A film festival during the ISAAC Conference in Cancún, Mexico

During the week of 24 to 27 July, an ISAAC conference took place in Cancún.

ISAAC – the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication – is a membership organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with complex communication needs.

ISAAC's goal is to create global awareness of how AAC can support people without speech. ISAAC achieves this by sharing information and promoting innovative approaches to research, technology and literacy through AAC. Activities include hosting the biennial ISAAC conference, sponsoring projects and offering awards and grants.

During the conference there was a film festival, where AAC users submitted their films and they were shown there. This festival is co-organized by Stichting Com in Beeld and Studio Cam on Wheels. They received videos from various countries, which were edited by trainees from the Graphic Lyceum Rotterdam. It proved to be a very successful festival and with a wonderful winning film, namely the entry by: Alessandra-Gomes-Buosi.

We also wanted to promote at the film festival the idea that you can use film as a communication support. We are always passionately looking, together with ISAAC, for new ISAAC - Cam on Wheels reporters from different places around the world. So are you or do you know someone with complex communication needs and do you want to join the team? Then we are looking for you! You can always contact us.

For those who were not present during the Film Festival, you can watch it back via the playlist below.
