The International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC) is committed to improving the lives of children and adults who use AAC. ISAAC's vision is that AAC is recognised, valued and used all over the world. ISAAC's mission is to promote the best possible communication for people with complex communication needs.
Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) helps millions worldwide who cannot rely on their natural speech to communicate. Every year an international conference is organized by ISAAC. This year the conference will be held in beautiful Cancún, Mexico!
ISAAC Cancún promises a robust scientific program, showcasing research and lived experiences that we are sure will represent milestones in our field, and that will help us make progress for the field of AAC in both Latin America and globally!
In addition, there will also be a Film Festival during the conference. This was set up by a number of board members of ISAAC and Cam on Wheels. Here children, youth and adults who use AAC can submit their short films and enter the competition. It is an accessible film festival. With your phone, tablets, speech computers (SDG) and/or camera you can make your films and apply Augmentative and Alternative Communication. This can be in the form of spoken text, sign language, text or other forms of language. And then submit it of course.
